House Update #2.... as it continues! :)

Helloooooo all, the world of the living!

Here is a new update on the house -- I apologize for so many, but it keeps changing on me!!

Bad news, the rental we are in goes into foreclosure/auction on Feb 18th!  Good news, I only have to pay rent for 18 days this month.... Better news, no rent for March, April, or May, which means --- longer time to get this collection thing that is holding me back hopefully taken care of with little or no out of pocket for me!  My credit repair person seems optimistic -- and that also means... 3, 150.00 toward a NEW HOUSE!!! Woo hoo!!! That's right folks, you heard me... once this collection thing is taken care of -- I can BUY a house, so my realtor suggested skipping the whole new rental business and go for buying since I am on the roll with this credit repair service who can help me get this collection rude people off my back and get that done, since that is the ONLY thing holding me back.  It's craziness I tell you!! Pure craziness!!!

Anyway, so, the next step, although I don't want to get ahead of myself because I keep doing that and it falls through every time... however, I need some kind of hope, so I am going to go ahead and get ahead of myself and start looking, because if I am buying and putting in this kind of money, I want to make sure it is something I want with all amenities I want! LOL  -- like, a garden tub and stand up shower, but separated in the same bathroom -- that way, John can't "mess up" my tub and he can clean his own shower!! HA HA!!!  Also want a back porch/patio, already built, and of course no 2 stories, not with my knees!!!  and tile... I know, picky right?!?  But, hey if it's going to be mine, then why not start with things that we want already built in so we don't have to pay to have them done!

I am also so excited because my car will be paid off Feb 28th...actually before then because I can actually pay it off in less than 10 days...YAY...go me!!! My first auto pay off and I bought it all on my own!!! Yippee!!

So, as for the house, things are still way up in the air, but looking up -- worst case scenario, I rent again -- so, I see that as not so bad!

Keep those prayers and positive thoughts coming, as I'm sure those are helping tremendously to help me get out of what I consider a pickle!! :)

Hope everyone has a fulfilling week, and I'll keep you updated!

House Update

Well, ok, so for those of you keeping up with my house situation -- and trust me when I say I apologize as though it keeps changing!!

As of right now, the house is going into foreclosure Feb 18th.  I found out tonight that when it does, then I don't have to pay rent!! :)  YIPPEE!!!  So, we are currently looking for new rentals.  I have started packing the house little by little and trying to make sure to keep my sanity.  I figure if I pack room by room then clean it, I can keep on top of things -- and not have as much to do when it's all said and done!

Well, that's it for now -- I'll keep everyone updated!  Keep positive thoughts coming through that I can have at least one thing go smoothly this time! :)

Life at 2014 is comin to an end.... :(

For those of you keeping up with the house stuff that's been going on...here is an update...

John and I were trying to buy the current house we are in that we have been renting for the past 3 years.  Well, I had all down payment taken care of, closing cost done, everything was taken care of except for this one debt I accumulated when I was young and stupid, (as the saying goes) and now it's biting me in the butt!!!  Anyway, the collection that it's with is NOT budging with settling with me for a decent amount, soooooooooo, that leads me to this -- we have to move!!!!!!!  UGH!!!!

So, here is the plan.....  My goal is to be out of our current house into another rental by March 31.  Anyone willing to help us move when I have an actual date is welcome to come over and help me pack all our crap!!! :)  Anyway, that is what is happening.  The more I thought about it, the more it made sense to just rent for another couple of years, pay off the debt that is causing all this headache for me and then try again next year...buying a house should not be this difficult!  Anyway, if anyone knows of any rentals for less than 1100/month, please let me know!  Oh, and any boxes you have, I would be in desperate need of! :)  Thanks and thank you for all of your prayers and support through this difficult time!

5 year anniversary!

Ok, so John and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on the 21st of January!!  Wow, where did all the time go??  Here's a wedding picture for those that haven't seen it....  Sorry for being so out of touch!
Mr and Mrs John Huffman - January 21, 2006

So, John picks me up from work on Friday and when I get in the car, there are 2 long stem yellow and red roses and a card...the card was sooooooooooooo sweet and heartfelt!  We get home and of course, I am starving, so I posted on my FB wall that I probably need to go to the store to see what to fix or get something for dinner -- John comes in the living room from the office and says -- oh, I bought dinner already -- I was shocked to say the least!!! He had picked up salad fixins, steak, and 2 very large backed potatoes.  So, he fixed me dinner on the grill!! How sweet!! We spent the rest of the evening just chillin' out catching up on DVR shows!!!  What a nice way to spend our anniversary!

My 35th Birthday -- Getting old is for the birds!!!!

Ok, so Friday I leave work looking forward to a 3 day weekend, which just happens to also be my birthday weekend -- Saturday, I went to do lesson plans with Rachel and successfully planned through President's Day -- so a huge accomplishment there.....

Saturday night, John and I met Rachel for drinks and karaoke for my birthday - It was a blast..ended the night singing "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey!! FANTASTIC karaoke song and one of my favorites.

Sunday morning (my offiicial birthday) I slept til 10...it was nice to sleep in for a change and thinking that my husband had at least planned the day for me -- maybe a gift or something, turned out to be nothing... well, ok, a card, but still - I was a bit pissed and hurt that he didn't even have a gift for me...Long story short -- I cried all day long just from feeling unimportant...he ended up getting me a 6 set of gold earrings....Why is it that guys (ok not all, just mine) suck at gift buying and giving?????  Ladies and friends of mine -- please feel free to message John and help him out with my gifts -- hint hint -- our anniversary of 5 years is Friday, and trust me, after the fiasco yesterday, he needs to make up for it!  You can reach him on Facebook!!! :)

So, after a depressing giftless (almost giftless) but feeling unimportant day, I go to bed and awake this morning... feeling better, but still a bit down!

John went to work, so I had the house to myself -- which was GREAT!!! NCIS marathon, facebook, and a quiet house... ahhhh, I love holiday Mondays....  At about 9am I get this knock on my door... I answer it and it's these 2 guys and they introduce themselves and say "your house is going up for auction tomorrow and we are looking at purchasing it, could we look around?"....I told them "no", they received false information and that I'm buying the house, so no thanks....  What do I immediately do??!!! Call my realtor... she informs me that we got the extension on the loan, but due to the holiday we haven't gotten and can't get word on the extenstion for the trustee or somethign or other until tomorrow, and that it's going to come down to the wire... then she proceeds to tell me that worst case scenario -- the house sells at auction if we don't get the extension in time and we find somewhere else to live and another house to buy!!!!!!!  I about fell off the couch!!!  So, needless to say, I have until 10am tomorrow to get word on the extension or my house that I am trying to buy will be sold out from under me!

If that happens, I will be calling on all friends far and wide to come help us pack up the house and move!!  :) HINT HINT!!  So, just in case, my realtor sent me links to about 54 homes that are for sale at or lower hte prices I am currently approved for and well, I have to say the pickings are actually pretty good -- but, if I don't have to move, all the better -- if I have to, well I have to and will just have to get over it!  So, prayers, toes, and fingers crossed are being asked for!

Then my friend, Shannon had set up this dinner for me for my birthday at The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown Phoenix... a couple of friends couldn't make it, but Amy, Katie, Ann Marie, Shannon, and John treated me to dinner, a birthday shot (a scooby snack - pic on my page) and a birthday balloon, Disney sing it for the Wii, and some very cute cards!!!  So, a horrible birthday turned out to not be so bad...I even got a mini red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting!! YUM!

Tomorrow it's back to reality and the world of teaching - which is seeming more and more not to be as fun as it used to be!!!  Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll talk to you soon!!!!

Meet My Family

Ok, so most of you know me, my mom, dad, and hubby --  well, meet them officially....

First is John -- My hubby -- pain in my you know what -- but what do I expect...he's a man!! :) LOL!  Met John in  July 2001 at a local bar where I went for line dance lessons on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  He currently works for Con Air here in Phoenix through a temp agency and we are hoping very soon that it may become permanent, as work has been hard for him to find the last 2 years!

This was taken in Las Vegas in 2007
Next up is my Mom and Dad (known to some of you as Bud and Liz) -- They moved from Arkansas in 2003 to Mayer, AZ when my dad retired from the state of Arkansas and the chicken business.  After living in Mayer for about 4 years, they moved to northern New Mexico in a small town just outside Farmington, NM by the name of Aztec.  They bought a manufactured home there and currently reside.  My dad is still having heart/health issues, and just had I think his 3rd or 4th pace maker put in.  Mom is doing well and has taken up making stain glass, scrapbooking and playing scrabble on the computer.  They like to read, watch TV and just enjoy the retired life!

Then there's my sisters!!! and nieces -- Sherri, Brandi, Charlene -- nieces Emma and Kennedy. They all live in central Arkansas -- Scotland, Conway, and Mayflower to be exact.  I finally got to go and visit them and go home for the first time last summer and can't wait to see them this summer again.  Emma is 2, Kennedy I believe just turned 8!  I miss them terribly, but thanks to facebook I can keep up with their goings on!

Well that about does it for family.... and an update on them!  I am trying to get this updated since I just started this blogging thing as a New Year's resolution... How am I doin' so far????

Hope you enjoyed gettin' to know me and my family!

Dilly & Banda - the true "Ladies of the House"!

So, here are my "kids".... I call 'em my fur kids -- Dilly is a 9 year old peek a poo I got from my mom for Christmas in 2009.  Banda is just a regular domestic short hair, but absolutely gorgeous -- I've had her since she was 2 and rescued her in March 2003 from the Human Society -- She will be 10  years old March 13.  I love 'em both!
Banda -- She thinks she rules the roost!
Dilly -- She's a Peekapoo -- and absolutely adorable!

TGIF!!!! and a 3 day weekend!

Well, today was a good day -- no children pressed my last nerve, my kids all wished me a happy birthday (on Sunday) and I even got Dove Chocolate from one of my kids -- They all passed their reading test and my PM class who is my "lower" sweethearts had a class average of 74% up from about 50%!!  I was very proud of that!  Had 2nd quarter awards assembly and they students did an awesome job!!!!  They were a very good audience and several of my students got awards for their hard work!

I am so glad that we only have a 4 day work week next week!

No big plans for my birthday - but my bestie is taking me to dinner at Spaghetti Factory one day next week!  First time eating there, so I can't wait!

So, as I was reading back over my posts, I have realized I need to put pictures up of my fur kids!  I will post pictures and introduce you to the 2 that think they run the house!! LOL -- they are my babies -- and I love them very much!

Well, I will update you on my birthday weekend on Sunday or Monday -- have a good Friday night and a great Saturday!

Life As Usual....

Hey Hey everyone!!!

Just an update on things here....

The week at work has been a bit stressful.

Monday due to my 2nd and final observation by principal this year!  I thought it went horrible..it didn't go perfect, but went better than expected!  Had meeting with principal about it on Wednesday, and well, I dropped 1/2 a point, but it's easily fixed... just BS some of the hoops teachers have to jump through nowadays --

Got a call yesterday that my rescore came back on the house - and the difficult credit collection agency that has been refusing to settle with me did finally settle after the title agency said they would cut them a check if they settled for our amount instead of theirs and they did!!  So.... the house is hopefully in the final stages of closing!  We will find out for sure by January 31, so please keep your fingers crossed -- my first house -- and I'm very excited!!!  We already have a list of 32 things that we want to do or add or re-model...can't wait to have that extra money to get started!!

For those that know me well -- I am a huge Kenny Chesney fan, and well, after a year hiatus, our KC crew is back to touring with Kenny and me, I hope to travel across country again to see him  and see all my friends and "groupies" in TN!!  So glad to be back on the concert trail with Mr. Chesney!

I will also be attending my 2nd New Kids on the Block concert on June 30th and I can't wait -- call me a nerd, an outcast, immature, what you will, but once a block head, always a block head and well, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been too!!! They were awesome when I saw them last year!

I will also be hitting the road to Arkansas with a friend this summer -- specifically -- May 27-29!  I can't wait to make the trip with her and see all my friends and family back home!! I will be staying in Bryant with friends for 2 weeks, and then possibly a week in Washington/Hope area with another friend of mine!  I can't wait!!!

I also am on Weight Watchers and have so far lost 21 pounds!!! Woo Hoo!! Go me!!!

Well, that's about it here folks... have a great weekend and I'll see ya next week!!! :)

First week back to work

Ok, so this week kicked my butt!!!  I don't know if it's getting back into the routine of things, or just being down right tired from all the political BS that goes on everyday.

Anyway, John was going to work on truck today, but decided against it, just couldn't get motivated.  So, we watched INCEPTION instead....great movie -- but boy was it odd!!  Don't walk outta the room, you'll miss something!

You know, it's amazing and I find it more amazing everyday how many people I have gotten back in touch with from Facebook!!  People I never thought I would ever talk to again, as well as memories!!! OH the memories!!

Today in Arizona, Tucson to be exact, one of our congress members was shot in the head today at a Safeway.  This person opened fire, killed 5 including a federal judge and a 9 year old girl!!  I don't know how someone could be sooooooooooooo cruel?!  I honestly don't know what people are thinking.

Closing date on the house has moved to Jan 31 or that is projected as closing date -- it's all sooooo stressful!!!  Just keep your fingers crossed!

Well, another uneventful week here at the Huffman homestead -- hope you all had a great week!

2nd Day in the New Year

Well, the 2nd day of 2011 has already come and gone, as a friend of mine said earlier today, "it's already passing by too fast!".

John and I started to try and fix the truck we inherited from a friend of ours (Thanks Shan)!  We don't know if the remedy my dad shared with us has worked or not, won't know until tomorrow evening -- however, we are keeping our fingers crossed -- otherwise, it looks like replacing the head gaskets, water pump, and thermostat.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I am trying to buy my first house.  I didn't realize how stressful this whole process was.  I mean, I knew and expected it to be a lot of work, but holy be-geeeezus!!  We are supposed to close on Jan 14 and the house was set up to go to auction on Jan 18 -- I know the short sale trumps the auction -- but still -- making stupid mistakes when I was younger with my credit isn't helping any!  Although I am taking care of most of them now, the 2 I have to take care of are not cooperating!!!!  Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that we can close on time and that all paperwork, money, and credit issues fall into place!

I made potato pancakes for the first time ever today -- they turned out ok, but no phenomenal...guess I need to try a different recipe (any suggestions are appreciated).  Also made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting...those turned out a lot better than the potato pancakes! :)

I am currently into making/baking cakes -- my mom got me a 4 tier cake pan set for Christmas, and I am very excited to use them.  I think I want to have an 80s party for my 35th birthday and am thinking of breaking them in with an 80s cake!  Been seeing some really cool designs online!

I'm also stamping and making all homemade cards for holidays -- gotta get on the ball with Valentine's since it's right around the corner -- After the house closes and my stress level dies down, I think I'll devote a whole day to just that.  I also have a couple of Christmas presents to finish (yes I know, Christmas is over) but I simply just ran out of time!

I start back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off -- looking forward, but not to it!  The first half of the year has actually not been terrible and has really gone by fast, so let's hope the 2nd half is just as good, or better!  I am excited for May 27th because I will be traveling to AR for the 2nd summer in a row with a friend of mine -- I will be staying in Bryant for about 2 weeks and then in Washington, AR for a few days to visit old friends and catch up!!!

Well, it is that time and time to call it a night!  I will try to post more pictures as things happen around here!  For now, have a safe night and to all of my friends returning to work tomorrow after vacation -- may your day be prosperous, productive, unobtrusive, and smooth!!

New Years 2011

Well, our ring in to the New Year, was very uneventful, and we were both in bed by 10:30!  We decided to stay home and avoid all the chaos in the comfort of our own living room watching Criminal Minds reruns/marathon.

My goal in the year 2011 is to keep up on this blog and I guess starting it is a good start to my resolution of actually starting one.  So, let me take the time to catch everyone up on what's been going on, for those that I haven't seen or talked to in years!

First, I moved to Arizona in 1997 to be with my mom and dad when Dad got really sick and has had several heart surgeries.  I ended up completing college, but not before attending 2 right here in Arizona.  I attended Northern Arizona University in 1997-1998 and transferred to Arizona State University where I completed my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education and specialized in Educational Technology.

I have been married twice (the first of which I prefer to forget) and I met my current husband (John) during dance lesson classes here at a local bar.  We dated for 4 years and were married in Las Vegas, NV in 2006.  We will have been married 5 years on the 21st of this month.

John has 1 son, Jeffrey who recently turned 19 -- we don't see him often and he currently resides with his mom across town.

John and I do no have any children of our own together as of yet.

I currently am teaching 6th grade in Phoenix, AZ and John is currently working in the ConAir Warehouse here in town.

I hope that I remember to keep up on the happenings with our life so that my friends and family stay updated on what's happening around here.  May your New Year's Day be safe and prosperous!
