It Finally Happened ---

Hey all a few things happening over the last few weeks -- First, John's birthday party went off without a hitch -- pics on my facebook profile, if anyone is interested --

Next, sit down if you're standing (texts appreciated) -- After 11 years of teaching, I got the highest honor in our district (campus wise), the Westside Impact Teacher of the Year!!!! I am so very honored and blessed, and very grateful to be chosen.  As it's not 100% official to announce yet, I did get the Ok to share with friends and family.

We got a new freezer today, as ours went out in the fall, and with my over use of coupons, I am running out of space for frozen food -- whew -- love me some coupons!

Only 5 more weeks left of school, and I can't believe it!  This year has flown! I have such a good group of kiddos! I will miss them.

We moved our living room around and it is so nice to have dual recliners in front of the TV to prop our feet up on.

I finally got the upstairs bedroom finished (as I can't remember if I shared this or not) -- pics are on my FB profile!  It turned out great!!!!!

Well, that's it -- exciting news, but not very much to share!  Have a great rest of April -- we will talk soon!!!

Fall Back, Spring Forward

Even though AZ doesn't celebrate daylight savings (one of the perks of living here), I do miss AR springs -- Jonquil Festival, etc.  Rain Rain, Rain, did I mention Rain!!  Living here int he desert I feel so deprived of the water falling from the sky... what's it called again?? Oh yea!! RAIN!!!

John will be turning 46 on April 8 and so I'm throwing him a OAKLAND RAIDERS theme party -- I'm making most of the decor and they are turning out soooooooooooooooooo cool!! (pictures to come).  The banner I made is my favorite, and I can't wait to decorate the yard!!  My idea you ask?? A mini football field anyone?????  Hopefully it turns out like I have it pictured in my mind!

I even made personalized water bottle and beer bottle labels -- and food labels, as well as my own cupcake labels, as we are foregoing the traditional birthday cake and going with cupcakes (marble swirl, "black and white") and I'm swirling the frosting -- going to be sooo stinkin' cute...

My only obstacle is overcoming how to make 2 sets of goal posts.... hmmm any ideas anyone/???

Spring Break is this week and I am enjoying it so much -- doing housework on my schedule, sleeping in, going shopping if I want and having time to do things other than work, although I have to do lesson plans sometime this week.  Probably Sunday -- that's when reality has to sneak back in!!

I will be taking my 6th graders to the Renaissance Faire on March 24 -- that should be fun.  It's an annual tradition!

My Student Council is doing such a great job getting ready for stat convention in May -- they created their own introduction and it is sooooooooooo good!! We are filming and sending it in to be judged this upcoming week -- I can't wait!!! It's going to be awesome!!!

Well, that's everything in a nutshell -- I'll post some pics of the decor I've done in the house later on -- creating your own wall vinyl lettering has become my new best friend!  Anyway -- Love and Hugs from the desert!! Spring has Sprung!

Holy Holidays Batman!

Wow, times does fly when you're having fun -- my last post was October -- can't believe I haven't updated everyone in over 4 months... welllllll

John is still at ConAir -- I'm still teaching 6th Grade -- I am currently beyond busy with work and extracurricular activities I am sponsoring or helping to sponsor at school.

My birthday was the 16th of Jan -- I turned 36 EEKKKK!!!! hard to believe....

Got a lot of the house decorated over my winter vacation and the upstairs and bedroom are beginning to come together and not be so bare.  I found out how to cut vinyl wall decals on my cricut...oh my - HEAVEN!!!  that stuff is great and makes for great decor too -- very easy to do!

Plans are in the works for me to attend CMA Fest in Nashville, TNwith a couple of friends the first week in June... before that though, I am driving (ROAD TRIP) to AR with my friend Shannon and seeing all my friends and family there for a week or so, then meeting the clan to travel to NashVegas for the second week.  Should be TONS of fun, and I can't wait!

I have also been applying for teaching jobs at the college level for a couple days a week in the evenings just to bring in some extra $$ -- Haven't heard anything back yet though.

Was taken to hospital by ambulance on Dec 5 due to chest pains -- everything is good though, found out it was inflamation caused by the cold weather...imagine that!  But, because I had open heart surgery when I was 8 mos. old, I didn't wanna take any chances.

Been fighting a sinus headache this week and I am home today because of good Ole Mother Nature who needs to take a freakin' hike -- up all night with severe cramps and vomiting... let me tell ya -- no way I was making it at work today to teach 100 6th graders!

Having friends coming over this weekend -- we are helpin' them out with laundry and such so it's a good time to play some games (Catchphrase mostly) -- great game and time passer with friends!

Well, that's all from here... nothing too exciting and life as usual.  Hope everyone had a great new year and we will talk to yall soon!

Sinking Out of Summer and Falling into Fall

Hello bloggers!!! or followers!!!  Things here in the Huffman house have been really stagnent lately!  Nothing exciting going on.  But, to those who follow (or care), here's the happenings around!

John is still working full time at ConAir in Glendale.  He likes it!  The pay isn't FANTASTIC, but good thing is he gets .25 raise every 3 months...so it will be great in the long run!

I am still working/teaching...love it and needless to say it has me hopping and not much time for anything else.

I haven't had time for stamping or any card making and I am seriously having withdraws! ha ha....

I am on fall break this week -- John and I went to Vegas for a mini vacay for 2 days... left on Saturday and came back yesterday -- it was nice to get away - no winnings, but had fun just the same, and even managed to rack up 2 nights free at Freemont Street Experience... :)  Guess we'll be going back before end of November!

When we got back into PHX, we went to run some errands, get my ring sized, grocery shopping etc, and instead came home with a new car -- 0 down, 60 months, 275/month.  We were in desperate need of 2 cars.  It makes life so much easier and you don't even know it until you only have 1 and have to make due.... anyway, it's a 2007 Chevy HHR -- I am a CHEVY girl! :)  Only had it for about 12 hours and love it.  Only drove it 2 miles so far (from dealership, home).  Pics are attached, let me know what you think.

Well, for Fall Break, no big plans...I was going to see my Mom and Dad but I think we will try to go up for Turkey Day instead, as both John and I have a 4 day weekend and well, our Christmas visit will be shorter than normal due to John having to be back at work!

Welp, that's it folks - be sure to visit often and soon, and I will try my best to post more often! Hugs to all!

It's Been Awhile -- FINALLY SETTLED

Well, I know it's been awhile, but things here have been just trying to get settled completely.  We had our housewarming last weekend -- it wasn't a BIG hit, but thankful to those who came!  I am glad we could share our new home with you!

Football is in full swing -- WOO HOO--- Arkansas Razorbacks are 2-0 YIPPEE!!! and well, I'm doing horribly in fantasy.

School is in full swing as well, and I have finally got my Student Council underwary -- can't wait to get everything completed for the AZ conventionthis year in May!  So excited.

We are doing well and hope you are too!!!  Nothing too awfully exciting!!! Until later!!

Back to School

Well, today was our first day back after summer break (and I feel like I didn't even have one due to the house stuff).  Anyway -- It was a great day back!  We got new shirts that look really neat and we found out today that out of 13 schools, we were one of the only 7 that made Annual yearly progress -- AND the state gave us an "A" rating -- WE WERE THE ONLY SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT TO GET THIS RATING!!!! We were so excited.  Our principal took us out for happy hour and appetizers after our day - so overall a great day to come back!

I got my classroom almost finished-- just a few more things to put up and books to sort.  I have 30 kiddos in my class -- larger than I have had in a couple of years -- but we will get by!

Housewarming has been set for Sept 10 == invites to be mailed middle to end of next week --

Everyone have a great week!

Journey ticket 35.00, breakfast 18.00, JOURNEY IN A MONSOON ARIZONA THUNDERSTORM -- PRICELESS!!!!!

The Journey concert was fantabulous!!! Night Ranger was awesome, but I was a bit disappointed they started nearly 20 minutes early so we missed the first couple of songs.  Anyway- we met at Barb's house around 4:15, and I finally got to meet Laurel that Barb has told me so much about (only good things of course!).  We left for the show around 6:20ish and parked... not too bad..got to our seats and well, then it was waiting... Night Ranger was already playing. Then came Foreigner who did a great job! I forgot they sang some of the songs they did!  Then it was JOURNEY time!  I have to say that the lead singer is no Steve Perry, but boy does his voice resemble him! The show was great, and about the 3-4th song in, it started to rain, AZ style with a bit of sand, thunder, lightning and all -- we as a group decided before hand that if it did start to rain we would stick it out and stay -- and I'm glad we did!! Faithfully and Don't Stop Believin' (my all time fav Journey song) -- was unbelieveable! We had a great time...Thanks to Barb, Laurel, Shannon, and Heather for an unforgettable night!! Pictures to follow soon!
